Calling

Matthew 4:21 And proceeding from there He saw two other brothers, Iakobos the son of Zebedaios and Iohannes his brother, in the vessel with Zebedaios their father mending their nets, and He called them. 22 And immediately leaving the vessel and their father they followed Him.

Gospel

John was an eyewitness of many of Yahshua Christ's actions throughout His ministry, and the young age of John at the time allowed him to witness certain events which other apostles might have been hesistant to witness out of fear of persecution.
